About Us

a brief summary

There was always a pet of some kind in the house as my sister and I grew up but I think that they were more important to me than to her. We had the usual family pets, dog and cat and we were encouraged to care for them. As I reached the age of wanting a pet of my own Mum was happy with most of my choices over the years, only drawing the line at snakes.With my pet mice Dad also taught me about breeding and rearing. Later still, together we bred and showed Canaries.
It was just after Dad had been demobbed from the RAF at the end of WW2 that Mum decided  that she wanted a pet of her own and chose to have a Miniature Smooth Haired Dachshund. They bought Peony, a red bitch who came from the Taschens of Mesdames Blakiston and New. Peony taught us much about being owned by a dachshund.
